King's Field (1994) walkthrough
JP: キングスフィールド · NA: Japan-only release · 1994 · PlayStation. JP / US numbering
Detailed public guide
Fandom floor-one interactive map. The floor selector on the public map provides the other cemetery floors.
Five floors, top to bottom
Floor one is the common burial level. Published maps put a shop here. Learn the gold frame of bars before you spend money, because healing items are the difference between a dead end and a trip back upstairs. The Sorcerer's Key is the early gate item the floor notes name. Do not rush the stairs. This disc has no automap, and the schematic on the map page is only a reminder of which floor you meant to be on.
Floor two holds the knights' and nobles' graves, Truth Cave, and a prison stretch. It is where the dungeon stops being a tutorial corridor. Floor three is the royal graves, with the blue demon called out in the same floor guides. If you are translating from Japanese with the 2006 patch, NPC lines on these floors are the ones a second translator, credited as Kaz in the patch notes, handled in part. Unpatched, those signs stay in Japanese.
The floor that turns you around, then the last room
Floor four is the one players call the maze. Walls and floors share a texture, so a landmark you trusted on floor two does not work. The Dragon Sword is found here, listed with a total attack of 38 in the weapon table, and Hauser's grave is the story beat: Jean's father, not a random coffin. Mark a corner in your own notes. I am not pretending a paragraph replaces that.
Floor five is the smallest. Miria is the meeting the guides single out, the sealed dragon door holds the Moonlight Sword (total attack 87 on this disc), and Reinhardt III is the final fight, associated with dark magic. After the credits you are done with the tomb. The next disc, if you follow Japanese order, is Melanat in the 1995 walkthrough. The family context sits on the 1994 game page.
