Four groups, not one number
Japanese Wikipedia describes seven King's Field works: four main games, Additional I and II, and Sword of Moonlight. Three feature-phone games sit beside that count. If a page tells you there are four games and another tells you there are ten, both can be right once you name the group. This table is the full set I am willing to list, with source counts on each row.
The four main games have their own pages because the US boxes rename two of them. 1994 stayed in Japan. 1995 became the first US King's Field. 1996 became US King's Field II. 2001 became The Ancient City. Additional I and II share one page because the public record on each is short, and the contrast between them is the point.
Pilot Style is a 22 August 1996 demo-like prequel, about an hour, with a later English patch noted by Romhacking catalogs. King's Field Mobile (14 January 2004), EX (4 April 2004), and Mobile II (15 November 2005) are the phone trilogy. I mark those rows as thinly documented compared with the console games. Sword of Moonlight is the official Windows tool from 2000, and it contains a remake of the first game.

FAQ
How many King's Field games are there?
Four main games. Japanese coverage adds two Additional chapters and Sword of Moonlight to make seven, plus three feature-phone games.
Which US game is King's Field III?
None. The US second game is the Japanese third game. The US first game is the Japanese second game.
Is Pilot Style a full game?
It is a short Japan-only PlayStation release from 22 August 1996, treated as a prequel episode rather than a fifth main game.
