King's Field on PlayStation

Three discs, two of them easy to mislabel

PlayStation is home to the 1994 Japanese tomb, the 1995 Melanat game, and the 1996 Verdite game. The 1994 disc is serial SLPS-00017 and was not sold in the US. The US longbox and the later jewel case are the 1995 game, the one whose US box dropped the numeral. The US jewel case that says King's Field II is the 1996 game. If a seller writes only "King's Field PS1", ask which serial or which year before you pay.

PlayStation discs are region coded. A US console rejects SLPS-00017. A PlayStation 2 that plays PlayStation games can read these discs too, which is why some people never buy a PlayStation once they own the later console. Pilot Style, 22 August 1996, is a short extra disc, not a fourth full campaign.

RetroGamePriceGuide rolls up eBay, checked 7 Nov 2026, and it is a single aggregator. Complete US King's Field: 20 sales, mean $133.56, 2026 examples about $100 to $252, one sealed copy at $900. Complete US King's Field II: 37 sales, mean $130.76, about $69 to $265, sealed noted at $165. A Japanese 1994 complete copy shows $89.99 on 20 March 2026. Longbox versus jewel case, and whether the registration card is present, moves the result. I will not quote a single fair price.
